"In order for the brain to help the body function optimally, it needs the maximum space possible to do its work. CST creates more space for the brain to function, allowing physical and emotional challenges to be dealt with and resolved more easily. CST is very effective for addressing a wide range of medical conditions and emotional difficulties.
Craniosacral (CST) therapy is an offshoot of Osteopathy. It is a method whereby the structure of the spinal column and skull are seen and felt to be moving from within, in accordance with a pulsing rhythm. Inside our skull and spinal column is the space where our brain and nervous system reside and do their work. As we all know this nervous system is the bio-computer that regulates the workings of the whole body, furthermore it is the seat of our social and highest intelligence."

What is It?
CranioSacral Therapy is a method of hands-on manual therapy to initiate self-healing mechanisms the body of the client is innately prepared to begin or continue. Blockages of various kinds can--and usually do--prevent the body from carrying out the sophisticated work of keeping you not just alive--but well. The task of of the CranioSacral Therapist is to enable the functions of your body to fulfill their tasks, a multitude of unique processes that, if impeded, can have a very real impact in limiting your life on all levels: interpersonal, intrapersonal, physical, emotional, mental, and if you wish "spiritual." Your task is to show up willing to follow the lead of your body which is usually a second-rate citizen in the goings-on of our hectic, hardly embodied, lives in 21st century America. Subtle changes are followed by the therapist--attuned especially to track the physiological shifts and assist them toward accomplishing the goal of their arising.

I came to this work because it helped me like nothing else I tried had. I love psychotherapy/psychoanalysis, yoga, acupuncture, massage, and other health-helping forms. But CranioSacral Therapy penetrated past and through what the others could only barely touch. I began to integrate psychological issues that years in therapy could only hint at. Problems from a childhood fall that inhibited my prefrontal cortex from functioning properly were starting to resolve. Throughout each of my pregnancies, regular CranioSacral Therapy assisted the constant changes and created comfortable space for both my internal organs, and for the baby, so I did not have the discomfort usually associated with the crowding of inner space during this special time.
